This week Starter Studio Founders Talk is proud to host Ron Cook. Ron is an entrepreneur, investor, educator, and musician. He is currently president and co-founder of Telemetree, Inc. , an Internet of Things (IoT) company, headquartered in the high-tech Canvs office at Church Street Exchange. Prior to launching Telemetree, Cook was Program Director (Dean) for the Entertainment Business and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Master of Science degree programs at Full Sail University. A frequent lecturer on beacon technology and starting a new business, Ron is a Certified Financial Social Worker, helping college students and others develop personal financial plans for debt reduction and wealth creation.
Ron returned to Orlando just over 10 years ago from an Atlanta-based private equity group, where he ran one of the firms portfolio companies. A serial entrepreneur and investor, he is currently an equity participant in several portfolio companies. An Atlanta native, Ron is a Beta Gamma Sigma honors graduate, with a Bachelor of Science in Management from the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Tech and a Master of Science in Psychology from California Coast University.
Rather than focusing on one or more vertical markets, Telemetree is an IoT solutions provider that matches appropriate M2M and IoT technologies to solve real world business problems, providing a demonstrable ROI. The company’s latest product launch, Distrx, is a mobile marketing application that uses beacon technology to allow merchants in shopping and entertainment districts to communicate promotional offers and other information to visitors to the district. A frequent speaker on beacon technology, IoT and entrepreneurship, Cook also serves as a mentor for Starter Studio, Orlando’s tech business accelerator.
