Our special guest speaker for our event will be Robert Wight, speaking on ”Practical Dreaming – or – Everything I Needed to Know to be Successful, I Learned From Doing an Ironman.”
“You are an IRONMAN.” For every finisher, those coveted 4 words punctuate the end of an IRONMAN race. But as Wight will explain in this presentation, it’s the journey, not the finish line, that changes you. Wight credits much of his entrepreneurial success to the lessons learned during the grueling 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run.
In this presentation, he uses the elements needed to complete an IRONMAN to provide practical lessons in the oftentimes grueling journey of building your startup. Each of these lessons create an actionable set of building blocks that entrepreneurs can immediately apply to their startup.
Rob is currently a partner in Aweida Ventures, a early stage fund that specializes in finding, funding and growing paradigm-busting startup and midstage companies. Previously, Rob served as CEO, Chairman and Chief Software Architect, for Channel Intelligence (CI), a company he co-founded in 1999 and recently sold to Google for $125 million. Wight led the vision and development of the products and services that built CI into one of the world’s leading e-commerce technology providers, relied on by over 200 manufacturer and retailer customers across every product vertical and managing millions of product transactions valued at over $3 billion. An accomplished triathlete, Wight has completed 9 IRONMAN races along with a number of 70.3 and Olympic-distance triathlons and many full and half marathons.
